What are letterbox numbers?
Letterbox numbers are small house numbers made for a letter box, a brick letterbox pier, a parcel box or a unit door. Ours are 50 mm or 75 mm high and cut from 8 mm solid aluminium. Unlike our larger house numbers, they are flush mount only, fixing flat to the surface with die cut 3M VHB tape, so there is nothing to drill. Mailbox numbers and post box numbers are the same thing.
Each character is water jet cut from 5083 grade aluminium in Beaumaris, our classic modern font. Choose from the letterbox numerals 0 to 9, the letters A, B and C, and a slash or dash, from $35 a character.
Choosing 50 mm or 75 mm
For a standard front letterbox or a brick letterbox pier, choose 75 mm. It is the minimum we recommend whenever the number needs to be read from the street. Small letterbox numbers at 50 mm work best up close, such as on a bank of unit letterboxes, a parcel box or an apartment door.

Seventeen finishes, including a brass look
Our metal letterbox numbers come in 17 powder coat finishes. The four standard Dulux Architectural colours are matt black, our most popular, matt white, matt gold and silver. Colorbond Monument adds a $90 custom colour fee and twelve more custom colours add $120: Colorbond Surfmist, Woodland Grey, Dune, Basalt, Pale Eucalypt, Gully, Ironstone and Shale Grey, Interpon Sable Core Ten, and Dulux Electro Dark Bronze, Medium Bronze and Aged Brass. The fee is charged once per order, not per character. Every finish goes over an acid etch pre-treatment to resist corrosion and fading, including in coastal areas. Looking for brass letterbox numbers? For an outdoor letterbox we recommend matt gold, which gives the warm look of brass with no tarnishing or polishing. Our solid brass door numbers are designed for indoor use, such as apartment doors, corridors and lobby letterbox banks.

How to install letterbox numbers
Every character comes with die cut, outdoor rated 3M VHB tape cut to its shape, plus printed instructions: clean the surface, peel the backing, position the number and press firmly. The tape bonds well to metal and Colorbond letterboxes and to smooth rendered, painted or sealed surfaces. On bare textured brick, or raw, rough-sawn or oiled timber, use our epoxy adhesive, sold separately. The questions below cover each surface.
Caring for your letterbox numbers
Very little care is needed. Wipe them occasionally with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then dry them with a separate clean cloth. In places with heavy salt exposure, a regular wipe helps the finish last longer.

Yes, this is what they are made for. The 3M VHB tape bonds well to metal and Colorbond letterbox faces, with no drilling. Clean the face first so the tape grips fully. The rod and spacer fixing on our larger custom numbers is generally not suitable for metal letterboxes, so these flush mount numbers are the better fit.
It depends on the face of the pier. On a rendered or painted pier, the included tape works. On bare textured brick, use our epoxy adhesive, sold separately, and place each number on a single brick face, not across a mortar joint. Hold it in place with tape while the epoxy cures.
